Supplemental Supplements

My wife tells me I make lists.  I do, and then I start talking about them.  Here is the list of the supplements I take and why I take them. Vitamin C and MSM in H2O :  Theoretically, aside from the concrete help with arthritis and exercise, this concoction should offer my cardiovascular system support. The MSM helps detox cells, and creates a more flexible bond between the cells in my circulatory system.  Which helps my arteries become more flexible. The thing about this is it doesn't happen overnight, it happens slowly, but given enough time my circulatory system should improve.  At least that's what the promoters of this stuff claim. Vitamin D3 and L-Arginine: Somewhere on YouTube is a Doctor (J. Joseph Prendergrast) who claims that this combination cleans out arterial gunk.  He says this because he had an MRI or PET or something like that when he was 37 and his doctors gave him a pep talk that basically said that after had his heart attack, they ...

Vitamin C and MSM in Copious Quantity

There is an entire school of thought that says minerals, and organic minerals are critical to health and lack of them is problematic. MSM - also known by the dreaded name Methylsulfonylmethane ; which sounds like something an Alien breathes rather than a type of food. It's also called organic sulfur. The rumor is that it's created in the ocean, deposited on the land by rainwater and ruined by modern factory farm soil additives.   So we never get enough. It's primarily used for arthritis and helps with inflamation. Very useful stuff I might add.  It helps me exercise because it helps me reduce lactic acid buildup from exercise much faster than I would without it. In fact I felt so energetic exercising, with my new found lack of sluggishness that I overdid it and had some back problems that lasted about a month. So I tried taking it once a day, and although that's better than nothing, twice a day is much better. I mix mine with some purified or ionized wat...

Breakfast of Supplements

Once upon a time I was not supplement crazy.   But now I am. Why is that? Well it might have something to do with being 67 and having a brother who, like myself never had a heart attack until he had the massive one when he was 67. It would be inconvenient to die right now, maybe I can stave it off until later? How would I do that, since my muscles don't really like to work out, and I know from PET scans that my aorta is encrusted with slabs of gunk. What can I do about that stuff? Well if you can believe what you read on the Internet, and don't have a great deal to lose, you can consume nostrums that will, over  time, degrease your arteries. One way to do this is to combine vitamin D and L-Arginine in suitable amounts and it may or may not work.   I've been taking about 2000 IU of vitamin D and 500mg of L-Arginine for over a year, and recently I increased the vitamin D to 6000 IU and 8cc of L-Arginine powder. I read somewhere that the requisite amount...

GERD, POOP and Pssst!

I had a great deal of hope for the McDougall diet, and as well as I was able to follow it, it worked like a charm.  I lost weight. the GERD was diminished and I felt great. The only problem was the flatulence.  In great quantity.  Magnificently putrid. It would keep my wife awake at night, and when I didn't eat, it would diminish. I realized that I had a problem.

Meloxicam and Pilosec

I only know what drugs do to me, and for a while I was on Meloxicam, a powerful NSAID, for my continuing neck pain, and Pilosec for GERD. The Meloxicam caused food to taste funny, and eventually caused stomach pain.  The Pilosec cause similar problems with a great deal of intestinal pain.  I had to stop taking them. In a fit of understandable frustration and in search of some panacea, I came across Dr. McDougal MD on YouTube.  The basic idea is to eat a starchy, all vegetable diet, and although I'm a diabetic, and half of my rational mind was telling me it was all BS, I was frustrated with GERD, so I went ahead and eliminated 98% of the fats in my diet and started eating whole grains and things such as sweet potatoes.  I tried, and eventually failed, to stay away from modern wheat because of its bad reputation.   At least initially, I stuck to traditional grains such as barley and short grain brown rice, because I like the way it makes my stomach feel aft...

Just a bit of Medical History

I've had diabetes for the last 22 years, and it's a bit hard to remember all the drugs I have been on, but I have finally rid myself of them. In 2009 I developed cancer, and the drugs that I took for the pain from the complications of the cancer almost killed me.  If you have drugs that suppress the mid-brain,  you will perhaps not breathe while you sleep and have further complications.  I had some weight issues that probably helped the sleep apnea, but the drugs were the primary problem. I was taking Zonisamide at 400 mg per evening, and enough Gabapentin to kill a horse.  Both work on the mid-brain to help you sleep. Or kill you, whichever comes first. One of my many tumors was in my neck, and caused headaches.  It had also eaten into my C2 vertebra and almost made it into my spinal canal. In which case I would have been long gone by now. The long muscle at the back of my neck bowed out, and my doctor mis-diagnosed the problem which is both why I w...
