Taking my Blocked Arteries Seriously

Once upon a time I had fantasies of having a diet that could take me to the benefits of ketosis, but all I did was gain weight; and then I had serious symptoms of heart disease. The serious symptoms were because I was older, and had just reached an age where I'd eaten enough to kill myself. I had three 80 through 90 percent blockages that put me on a table for bypass surgery. They gave me statins. Well, I don't do well on statins and the blood pressure medicine is a bit of a problem for me so I have to deal with this prospect of premature death in some other way. Presumably, I don't have a death wish.  But you get to be old and think about your prospects and then you get depressed. Especially after talking to your cardiologist. I had a book called "Fasting can Can Save Your Life: Eating for Health" by Joel Furman.  I read it and started to implement the diet.  To the best of my ability. I entertained myself by watching conspiracy theories on You Tu...

The Pleasure of a Tripple Bypass

I've had the pleasure of a triple-bypass, and since one artery, the one my doctor called the "widow maker" was very blocked,  I'm wondering if there are ways to unblock or keep my remaining (new pipes) from becoming blocked. Since I'm a diabetic, hopefully it would work for me.  After watching a doctor on Youtube, I've come up with a list of supplements - and I have no idea if these work, but I wrote them down so I could remember them. The cynical side of me wonders if they have stock in supplement companies. These a set of supplements I'm thinking about for my heart disease. This first set is for unclogging the arteries, or rather keeping them from getting worse:   Fish oil nattokinase L-arginine CoQ10 magnesium vitamin C I wonder if they left off copious quantities of Vitamin D3? And what about Lysine? These help with heart matabolism (used in combination): CoQ10 L-carnitine D-ribose   Naturally I want to think about these be...

Roasted Red Pepper

I'm sure there are people other than me who have wanted to take a drug, in this case a vitamin, that will facilitate better HDL/LDL and maybe help with the diabetes. This particular vitamin, it is rumored, can also help if you are stark staring mad; but I am not convinced I have that problem at the moment, I just want to help my diabetes, and maybe my heart. I speak of course about Niacin, or B3, which is in my B-Complex anyway.  I just wanted to try a little more of it. I was watching a YOUTUBE by Dr.  Andrew Saul who has a number of instructive videos about vitamins, and was impressed with Niacin for its potential benefit for my diabetes, the HDL/LDL stuff would simply be gravy. There are several kinds of Niacin, and the big difference is between the FLUSH and NO FLUSH kinds.   The FLUSH kind is cheaper and more effective, but the FLUSH is difficult to tolerate. I purchased some the other day and brought it home from the store and had my first pill.   Wi...

Mixing Diets and Does it Lead to Indigestion?

Something over a year ago, I engaged in a vegetarian diet akin to the McDougal Diet, which is a starch based vegetarian (more or less) diet.  When I was doing this, out of frustration from my GERD, I noticed that after about three days I could feel the difference, or felt that I could feel the difference in the amount of fat in my blood stream. Considering that the world is replete in delusional thinking, I should add that I had not had a bite of anything fat for three days, and I felt different.   This was the first step in my losing a great deal of weight, and I think that if I had a redux, I would know how to do the diet better the second time.  For example, I already understand which amino acids are missing from certain foods and how to get them into me without gaging too much. And I also understand the need for a probiotic assist before the flatulence gets overwhelming. And for that very reason, perhaps I should break the diet off after a certain lengt...

The Green Goo

I've been straying from my standard breakfast, and I'm afraid that my blood sugars are up and I've gained weight.  Now it is time to get serious and begin, once again, the consumption of what used to be my normal breakfast, or a large part of it, the infamous green goo. Sounds appetizing, doesn't it? Let me say that I strayed so far as to actually get a pound of hamburger, although it was grass fed, and I ate eggs and smothered the whole thing in not the best cheese in the world. But I should describe the goo, although it has gone by other names, such as green gunk, or just plain gunk. My wife won't touch the stuff. Basically, I put some water (either reverse osmosis or ionized) on the stove and let it heat up while I get the jar with the pea protein, the Spirulina and a bag of powdered L-lysine out of the pantry. If these could be measured, I will attempt an approximation, the amounts would be several heaping tea spoonfuls of pea protein, a heaping teas...

Supplemental Supplements

My wife tells me I make lists.  I do, and then I start talking about them.  Here is the list of the supplements I take and why I take them. Vitamin C and MSM in H2O :  Theoretically, aside from the concrete help with arthritis and exercise, this concoction should offer my cardiovascular system support. The MSM helps detox cells, and creates a more flexible bond between the cells in my circulatory system.  Which helps my arteries become more flexible. The thing about this is it doesn't happen overnight, it happens slowly, but given enough time my circulatory system should improve.  At least that's what the promoters of this stuff claim. Vitamin D3 and L-Arginine: Somewhere on YouTube is a Doctor (J. Joseph Prendergrast) who claims that this combination cleans out arterial gunk.  He says this because he had an MRI or PET or something like that when he was 37 and his doctors gave him a pep talk that basically said that after had his heart attack, they ...

Vitamin C and MSM in Copious Quantity

There is an entire school of thought that says minerals, and organic minerals are critical to health and lack of them is problematic. MSM - also known by the dreaded name Methylsulfonylmethane ; which sounds like something an Alien breathes rather than a type of food. It's also called organic sulfur. The rumor is that it's created in the ocean, deposited on the land by rainwater and ruined by modern factory farm soil additives.   So we never get enough. It's primarily used for arthritis and helps with inflamation. Very useful stuff I might add.  It helps me exercise because it helps me reduce lactic acid buildup from exercise much faster than I would without it. In fact I felt so energetic exercising, with my new found lack of sluggishness that I overdid it and had some back problems that lasted about a month. So I tried taking it once a day, and although that's better than nothing, twice a day is much better. I mix mine with some purified or ionized wat...
